What the customs value usd column actually records

This is a reference extract from landed-cost-worked-examples.csv, a 7-row dataset with the columns customs_value_usd, duty_rate, freight_usd, insurance_usd, fees_usd, duty_fob_usd, duty_cif_usd, landed_total_fob_usd, landed_total_cif_usd, effective_rate. The figures below are copied directly from the file; nothing here is estimated or interpolated.

Provenance recorded in the dataset: Landed-cost worked examples: FOB vs CIF duty basis, landed total, effective rate. DERIVED, and re-checkable by recomputation. Every value was computed 2026-08-05 from these formulas and nothing else:
