The SAT scales two sections (Reading & Writing, Math) from 200–800 each for a 400–1600 total. Raw scores convert through an equating curve that varies by test date to keep difficulty fair.
The ACT averages four section scores (English, Math, Reading, Science) onto a 1–36 composite. AP exams combine multiple-choice and free-response into a 1–5 scale, with 3 usually the credit threshold.
Because of equating, the same number of correct answers can yield slightly different scaled scores across dates — which is why a projection tool models the curve rather than a fixed percentage.
